Frequently asked questions.
General Questions
What is Physical therapy?
Physical therapy is a healthcare service focused on improving movement, reducing pain, and helping individuals recover from injuries or surgeries. It includes hands-on treatments, movement retraining, and personalized exercise programs to restore function and prevent future injuries.
Cash-based physical therapy means that I do not bill insurance directly. Instead, clients pay at the time of service, allowing for a more personalized and effective approach. This model eliminates the restrictions and limitations often imposed by insurance, ensuring that each session is fully tailored to your needs, with one-on-one care and a focus on achieving your goals efficiently.
Do i take your insurance?
In short, no. BUT let me explain. I have purposely chosen to not work with insurance for the above reason and for the simple fact that I want to provide treatment best for you and not what is dictated by insurance.
However, I can provide a superbill upon request, which you may submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
Do i need a referral to see you?
No, in California, you can see a physical therapist without a referral thanks to Direct Access laws. This means you can start treatment right away without needing to visit a physical or other referring provider first!
However, there are a few important details to know:
You can receive physical therapy treatment for up to 45 days or 12 visits (whichever comes first) without a physician’s referral.
If you require treatment beyond that, a licensed healthcare provider must approve your plan of care.
This allows you to get started quickly while ensuring proper medical oversight if extended care is needed.
